Monday-Tuesday

Started out bounding out,
The birds of the morning in full voice,
A need to flee this heat,
The desolation of naked dirt
Making up for the gap,
Between the forest ridges,
That’s when the rain it hit,
But I could smell the salt, the beaches
As the water drops fade between the waking trees
To emerge, pelicans above my shoulders
As these light feet upon the earth take flight
Far from the decaying cluttered spaces,
Not a second thought, to run the right direction,
Where all weather wakes to the seasons…
