Born into an ancient land

Written while passing the time one morning, when words fell across the page.

Born into an ancient land

In the soon long days of summer
There she walks through the heat
A girl passes with deep amber eyes
Beneath trees of an ancient land..

In the places where tall grasses press
From beneath her feet to above her chest
As their seeds, they tangle through her hair’s
Long dark river of silk, flowing under a blue sky..

A girl of colour, a girl of living life
True to her ancestry, her people
Where ever she walks the land, country
A girl of colour, with deep amber eyes..

Listen to her music, her song lines,
While she shares her growing story
Her love, her moments, her family
Alive in lands which speak in the wind..

Born into an ancient land
A girl of colour, a girl of living life
A girl of colour, with deep amber eyes..

How I envy you for being such a natural poet, Sean. I wish to come here – on your site – more often so you could inspire me. Pardon me for not having done that recently. Life gets in the way; both good and the bad.
I’m glad, though, you are one of the reasons why I believe the blogosphere is worth it.

I agree with the commenters above: What a lovely poem this is. So lovely like your other poems.

    • Thanks, Marj! Yeah! It’s a big world out there, and in here, life and all… Crazy, happy sad, laughter, full of stories, mighty, and small, from the core to the fringes between the curtain of water, earth, and air… We all breathe!
