Boxes and trees

Below some more poetry fun courtesy of the crew over at “We drink because we’re poets” for their latest poetry prompt “Monday Poetry Prompt #15: Just Give it a Tri…olet!” For the Triolet form, the first thought here for the rhyme scheme of ABaAabAB, (capital letters representing the repeated lines) which it uses, started with establishing the last word for each line, and then roll it out from that point.

Boxes and trees

Falling straight beneath the boxtop
Where the branches cut a funnel
In the quiver to each moments’ stop
Falling straight beneath the boxtop
As you keep dancing to the rockpop
While leaf confetti lines another tunnel
Falling straight beneath the boxtop
Where the branches cut a funnel.

Trees and places

    • Thanks Uzoma. I almost decided not to use rockpop, as I wasn’t sure how it might relate to initial thought on a direction after determining the last word of each line. But it works, and gives the middle its life.
